Processes and materials
Prototypes for manufacturing and add-on parts for products in service, printed in FDM filament and DLP resin. The figures below are the ones we quote against.

Processes
Spraggs3D prints in two processes, FDM filament and DLP resin, chosen to suit the part, the material and the batch. Each quote names the process it is priced for.
- FDM (filament): strong, economical parts, jigs, brackets and housings
- DLP resin: fine detail and smooth surfaces on smaller parts
Materials
PETG filament and Siraya Tech Build resin are the standard materials, chosen for the job: stiffness, temperature, or a cosmetic finish. Other filaments and resins are available on request.
- PETG filament
- Siraya Tech Build resin
- We do not supply food-contact certified or medical-grade (biocompatible) parts
Tolerances
Every quote states the achievable dimensional tolerance for the chosen process and material, in writing, before you commit. Inspection against the drawing is available on request.
- FDM: ±0.3 mm in X and Y, ±0.1 mm in Z, the printer manufacturer's published figure
- DLP resin: 0.05 mm layers and a pixel of about 0.05 mm. Resin shrinks slightly as it cures, so the tolerance for a resin part is stated on its quote
Build volume
Build volume sets the largest single part, and how parts nest sets the economics of a batch. Send the geometry and we will tell you whether it fits in one piece or needs splitting.
- FDM: 250 × 210 × 210 mm
- DLP resin: 130 × 73 × 165 mm
Lead times
We send a quote and a timeline within 5 working days of your enquiry. The quote carries a date, not a guess.
- Prototype: typically 2 weeks
- Small batch: typically 1 week
- No expedited service
Order size
Prototyping runs of one are normal. Small production batches are the other half of the work. If a batch is larger than we can take on, we will say so at the quoting stage.
- Minimum order value: £75
Common questions
- What CAD formats can I send?
- STL, STEP (.step or .stp), 3MF, OBJ and IGES (.iges or .igs). Send a STEP file where you have one: it carries the geometry most reliably.
- What happens to my CAD file?
- It is used only to prepare your quote and make your parts. It is never shared. Files attached to enquiries that do not go ahead are deleted after 90 days.
- Will you sign an NDA before I send anything?
- Yes. Ask and we will put a non-disclosure agreement in place before you send any files.
- Do you make one-off parts, or only production runs?
- Both. A prototype run of one is normal, and small production batches are the other half of the work.
- What does a repeat order cost?
- The first order pays once for the CAD modelling and machine setup as part of a prototype price. After that, further units are billed at a lower per-unit price that does not repeat the one-off work.
- Is the quoted price fixed?
- Yes. The quote is a fixed price with the achievable dimensional tolerance stated in writing, and it lists the rates it was calculated at so the figure can be checked.
- How quickly will I get a quote?
- Within 5 working days of your enquiry, with a timeline for the work. A quote is valid for 30 days. Prototypes typically take 2 weeks and small batches 1 week.
- Can you make food-safe or medical-grade parts?
- No. Our materials are not certified for food contact or for medical use, so we do not supply parts where that certification is needed.
- Is there a minimum order?
- Yes, £75. A single part is fine as long as the order reaches that value.
- Where are the parts made?
- Every Spraggs3D part is made in the United Kingdom.
- How do I get a quote?
- Send the drawing and a short brief through the enquiry form. You can attach the CAD file at the same time. Send a drawing.
